Opportunity Summary

Reporting to the company President of a privately held $25MM specialty chemical company the VP of Marketing & Sales will be responsible for all Sales and Marketing activities for the company. For more than 100 years the company mission has been to provide products which meet the changing needs of their customers, and their product formulations have played key roles in emerging technologies throughout the company's history. The company culture is known for promoting high ethical standards, work-family balance, and maintaining a constant focus on quality, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Sales Leadership – Lead all sales and marketing activities for the company with the goal of capturing and/or protecting market share across all product lines. Create and maintain an organized Sales and Marketing team by setting clear objectives and timelines, providing the necessary support for the team to be successful, holding team members accountable, and developing team skills. Lead strategic response to any aggressive competitor movements that could threaten company market share. (50% of time will be spent in this area.)
  • Marketing – Manage marketing plan for company. Develop appropriate literature, technical data sheets and labeling requirements. Review customer training programs. Determine appropriate promotions and trade shows to attend. Direct advertising efforts in trade journals, website and trade organizations (20% of time will be spent in this area)
  • Cultural Leadership – Help to create and maintain an organizational culture that encourages innovation, collaboration, excitement, commitment and a sense of urgency toward goals. (10% of time will be spent in this area.)
  • Vision & Strategy – Work with leadership team to create a vision and strategy that will be used to drive the firm company to its full potential. This includes leveraging the firms’ company’s strengths to enter new markets and also successfully compete in existing markets. (10% of time will be spent in this area.)
  • Direct Sales – Participate with Sales team in direct sales of products within North America. (10% of time will be spent in this area.)


Must Have:
  • Current Sales leadership experience and proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching, process management and people leadership skills.
  • Successful previous experience in a sales role, consistently meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Commitment to continuous education through workshops, seminars and conferences.
  • Strong business sense and industry expertise with specialty chemicals for the construction and/or metalworking industries.
  • Highly developed skills in team leadership, goal setting, strategic execution, and accountability.
  • BS degree
