DESCRIPTION:  7Miles Global is a high energy, fast-paced Advertising Business Support Service for Advertisers, Ad Agencies and Production Companies.  Our mission is to offer quality support to our clients by working with and developing the best Talent in the Industry and providing a collaborative work environment where our staff can do the job well and thrive.  We are committed to excellence and accuracy in our work, and we go the extra mile for our Clients and our teammates.  The Business Affairs Manager is a key client-facing position who works with internal staff as well as interacting with clients on a daily basis.  The ideal candidate is a self-starter with good organizational and communications skills, demonstrated ability to consistently meet deadlines and work well under pressure and the ability to interact well with colleagues and clients at all levels as well as being flexible and responsive in dealing with diverse personalities.  Candidate should have experience in Broadcast Business Affairs and Talent Payments (Trafficking experience as well is a plus.).  Must be proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint (preferred but not required) and willing to learn other systems as needed. Position requires someone that can adapt to multiple environments and be able to manage workload remotely, including the flexibility to travel to Client’s offices, be responsible and accountable and able to set up a home office.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Educational requirement:  2 years of college level coursework required, 4 year (BA or BS) Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years Advertising Industry Business Affairs/Talent Management Experience required.
 
 
OBJECTIVES:
To provide daily, full BA management of assigned accounts.  Requirements to fulfill this goal include: 
  • Ability to review and analyze processes to determine and recommend improvements that need to be initiated to ensure best practices. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with client, media agency, production company, broadcast stations and distribution facility to ensure all spots and instructions arrive on time for proper airing.
  • Ability to communicate to management issues, ideas and assistance required for all assigned accounts.
 
 
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Client Management Responsibilities:
Manage Clients’ Union and/or Non-Union Talent related Business Affairs Matters to include all or some of the following: Talent Estimating & Budgeting, Script review (providing guidance to Client on watch-outs, talent costs, licensing advice, etc.), thorough knowledge of the SAG-AFTRA and AFM Commercials Contracts/Codes, including both General Market and Multi-Cultural Language provisions; as well as Talent Management for Production including processing and actualizing based on a thorough understanding of union rules as well as Federal & State Labor Laws.
  • Understand each client’s service agreement and manage client accordingly, including working with Accounting to review client invoices as needed, ensure timely issuance of invoices, and assist with keeping client payments on track within agreed terms.
  • Have a thorough understanding of handling Union and Non-Union processes pertaining to Business Affairs, to include Television and Radio Commercials, Industrial/Non-Broadcast and Internet/Digital/Social Productions and Projects
  • Social Media and Influencer Talent Negotiating and Contracting Experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Advertising Legal Guidelines/Laws/Rules with the ability to manage independently or with the guidance of Legal Counsel (when approved).
  • Processing Holding/Residual SAG/AFTRA/AFM Payments and notifications in a timely manner.
  • Estimating Talent Sessions and Residuals for TV, Radio, Industrial, New Media, Interactive, Promos.Music Videos and Network TV Programming experience would be beneficial, but not required.
  • Generate all necessary Talent Reports: Casting Specs, Talent Contracts, Production & Talent Completion Reports, Talent Advices for Residual payments, etc.
  • Review and enter information to track Video and Radio Assets into client systems and/or Rights Management systems, as required.
  • Evaluate, Manage and Resolve or assist in resolving State Labor and Union Claims on behalf of clients.
  • Responsible for tracking and meeting Client and Union Business Affairs and Talent Management deadlines.
  • Consult with and advise Clients on Talent Jobs, Creative Development, Union Rules, Labor Regulations and best practices.
  • Manage Talent Scale and Overscale Negotiations and assist with executing Long-Form Contracts for Talent (including Celebrity Agreements).
  • Manage Music Licensing process on behalf of clients (Master Rights, Publishing/Synchronization Rights), Research music rights owners and perform Music Searches as well as assisting with execution of license agreements.
  • Manage Rights Licensing (clips, images, and other copyrighted elements) for Clients and assist with executing Licensing Agreements.Also manage documentation, due dates, and expirations for licensed elements.
  • Respond to Client BA and Talent Management questions, concerns, follow-ups, etc.
  • Provide on-going Client training for Business Affairs/Talent Payment processes and procedures.
  • Opening, Tracking, Reconciling, Actualizing, and Closing Jobs.
  • Manage Network Clearance process on behalf of clients who have engaged Network Clearance services.
  • Proactively manage all Account transition documentation and be available to cover other Client’s work when colleagues are unavailable or out of the office.
  • Troubleshoot new challenges with teammates and share experiences and create the best solutions for our Clients.
  • Assist/provide guidance to colleagues and clients on large projects that fall within your area of expertise.
  • Maintain organized and accurate Talent and Commercial Files and Documentation.
  • Willingness to learn new computer Systems/programs specific to each Client as required.
  • Retention of Clients through pro-active problem solving, respectful working relationships and responsive Client Service.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with 3rd party vendors in the Film, Television, Internet/Digital/Social Media and Music Industries.  
  • Additional tasks and projects as directed.
 
  1. New Business Responsibilities:
  • Help develop leads/research potential Clients,
  • Review and/or assist in development of marketing materials and presentations on request.
  • Attend new Business Meetings and pitches, as needed.
 
 
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Knowledge of union and non-union procedures and guidelines for advertising including TV, Radio, Internet, New Media and Social Media commercials and content, Industrial/Non-Broadcast projects, Print, and live event/in-person appearances and promotions.
  • Knowledge of federal and state labor law, including regulations and permits for employment of minors in entertainment.
  • Knowledge of Network Clearance and Traffic preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with Talent Budgeting and Estimating for union and non-union session and residuals.
  • General office skills and abilities, – computers, phones, faxing, copiers, etc.
  • Knowledge of Systems used in Advertising:Advantage/Webvantage, Workamajig, Media Ocean, etc.
  • Knowledge of Traffic and Network Clearance.
  • Knowledge of Licensing and Rights Management.
  • Knowledge of Music Licensing and Music Licensing Agreements.
  • Good interpersonal skills - interaction with Clients, Colleagues, and Management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (additional languages if required for Clients)
  • Minimum typing/keyboarding of 50 words per minute
  • Basic MAC/PC Computer skills including Outlook, Word and Excel, and ability and willingness to learn new and/or proprietary Computer applications, as required

GROWTH PATH:
Increased responsibilities and direct reports as the Company grows. As a general guide, Business Affairs Managers will be trained and developed expand their role as Managers or become Assistant BA Directors depending on the growth of the Company.
